Care Instructions
Do your kids take their clothes off inside out? Mine do. And do you spend time correcting them before washing? I did too.
But don't! Leave them. Washing their clothes inside out not only saves you a wash-prep step, it also preserves the colour and texture of the clothes and protects the environment. Each time an item is washed, the movement that cleanses the fabric creates wear on the item and also releases tiny particles into the water. Reducing the frequency of washing, decreasing the temperature and speed of the cycle, and washing inside out can all help to extend the life of an item. And wearing the clothing we already have, for longer, is the first thing we can do to create a more sustainable wardrobe!
Other clothing care tips worth mentioning are:
- Zip zippers, snap snaps and button buttons before washing items to avoid pulls and pills in the fabric.
- Air dry items flat, or on a laundry rack or line whenever possible.
- Before air drying, shake or snap an item to reduce wrinkling.
